Meet the Trainer: Joellen Luttrell, Certified Instructor/Trainer

Joellen brings her lifelong love of helping people together with her dedication to training dogs with proven techniques that both you and your dog will enjoy. A certified assistance dog trainer who has spent much of her life energy developing and perfecting her techniques while working at premier assistance dog organizations in the country. These include Canine Companions for Independence, Guide Dogs for the Blind and Dogs for the Deaf. For more than 12 years her specialty has been training dogs in special and advanced skills, in addition to basic obedience and problem solving. Over her career, she has successfully trained and placed hundreds of dogs.

Her sensitivity to your dog's personality and temperament, coupled with effective training tools, will help you and your dog to live happily and obediently together!

Joellen’s Training Philosophy:

Training should be fun for both the human and the dog! Positive reinforcement methods are used to bring out the natural ability of each dog and train them new skills based on their individual personalities. In her experience she has found that dog’s love to learn. Once a dog “learns how to learn” they enjoy the “training” just as much as we do. Opening up this form of communication with your dog then allows you to shape the behaviors you like and eliminate the behaviors that are unwanted. Dog’s learn through association: i.e. do what is pleasant and avoid what is unpleasant. Working with a professional trainer can help to lay a solid foundation for the owner to work from and allow you to develop a happy and healthy relationship with your lifelong companion.
